Leveling and dressing should have them playable again. However, as there's still enough useable height left in the frets, there's no need for a refret. The neck radius feels much closer to that of a modern Ibanez than a Fender Strat (shame on me for forgetting to measure the exact radius).Īs is to be expected on an instrument this old, the frets are badly worn and the fingerboard caked with dried sweat and grime. The guitar features a maple neck and 24 jumbo frets on a rosewood fingerboard that is comfortably wide and flat.
#Yamaha rgx 312 guitar serial number
Next, based upon its serial number OL2810, I believe that it was manufactured on May 28, 1988. This Taiwanese-made guitar is most probably an RGX312II because of its silver pearl finish. Compared to its predecessor, the RGX312II was available in a wider range of colors: red, black, white and silver pearl.
This guy carries a lot of parts. The Yamaha RGX312 (available in red, black and white only) was produced from 1987-1988, and RGX312II from 1988-1993. There are many hard tails out there as well. I have an RGZ611M and it's a Floyd Licensed that works as good as any Real Floyd Rose. The locking Tremolo's work good, but the later models are hard to find parts for. Make sure you get one of the earlier ones, later they got cheaper. You can get a superb one for around $300 or less, and sometimes with a case. Only had to replace on volume Pot after many years of use. Never had any issues, and I play the crap out of them. The necks are good, the pickups have a bright but wide frequency response, and the hardware is long lasting. Yamaha was trying to compete with the USA guitar makers seriously back in the 80's and early 90's and I consider some of those super strat type guitars almost as good as a Fender (I've owned Both) from the same period, but a lot less expensive.
I own both and they are pretty dang good cheaper guitars. Furthermore, no security is promised or implied by The Gear Page owners, administrators, or moderators.
